MEDICATION MANAGEMENT

Getting Started

Will I be prescribed medication at my first visit?

Not always. If medication is appropriate, it may be discussed and initiated during your initial appointment. In some cases, we may recommend:

Additional evaluation before starting medication

Reviewing past records or prior treatment responses

Lab work or medical clearance, when indicated

Our goal is to make thoughtful, individualized decisions—rather than rushing into treatment.

Follow-Up & Monitoring

How often are follow-up appointments?

Follow-up visits are typically scheduled every 2–4 weeks when starting or adjusting medications, and less frequently once you are stable.

These visits allow us to:

Monitor how you’re responding to medication

Adjust dosage or treatment as needed

Address any side effects or concerns

Integrate therapy and lifestyle strategies into your care

Approach to Medication

What is your approach to prescribing?

We take a conservative, evidence-based, and personalized approach to medication.

This means:

Prescribing only when clinically appropriate

Starting with the lowest effective dose

Avoiding unnecessary polypharmacy

Regularly reassessing whether medication is helping

We also consider factors such as sleep, stress, nutrition, and daily routines, as these often play a critical role in treatment outcome

Side Effects & Safety

What if I experience side effects?

Your safety and comfort are a priority. We will review potential side effects in advance so you know what to expect. If side effects occur:Many are temporary and improve over timeAdjustments can often be made to minimize discomfortYou will have guidance on when to reach out between visits

Long-Term Planning

Will I need to stay on medication long-term?

Not necessarily. The duration of treatment varies depending on your diagnosis, history, and goals.

Medication may be:

Short-term, to help stabilize symptoms

Medium-term, alongside therapy and lifestyle changes

Long-term, when it provides ongoing benefitWe regularly revisit this together and adjust your plan as your needs evolve.
