At Verve Psychiatry, we offer computerized ADHD testing using an FDA-cleared tool (QbTest) to provide objective data about attention, impulsivity, and activity levels.

This testing is available to new and existing patients as part of a comprehensive ADHD evaluation process. The test can be done separately as well.

What Is Computerized ADHD Testing?

Computerized ADHD testing is an objective assessment that measures how your attention and impulse control function in real time.

Unlike questionnaires, which rely on self-report, computerized testing provides measurable data that can support clinical decision-making.

What Does the Test Measure?

The QbTest evaluates three core areas associated with ADHD:

  • Attention – ability to stay focused over time

  • Impulsivity – tendency to respond too quickly or inaccurately

  • Activity level – patterns of movement and restlessness

This allows for a more detailed understanding of how ADHD symptoms present.

What Is the Test Like?

During the test:

  • You complete a simple computer-based task

  • You respond to visual stimuli over a set period of time

  • Your performance is measured and compared to age-based norms

The test is designed to assess sustained attention—not just short bursts of focus.

How Is This Different from Questionnaires?

Most ADHD assessments rely on:

  • self-reported symptoms

  • clinical interviews

  • rating scales

While these are essential, they can be subjective.

Computerized ADHD testing adds:

  • Objective, measurable data

  • Quantifiable comparison to population norms

  • Additional clarity in complex or unclear cases

Do You Need Computerized ADHD Testing?

Not everyone requires computerized testing. It is most helpful when:

  • The diagnosis is unclear

  • Symptoms overlap with anxiety, depression, or sleep issues

  • You want a more objective, data-driven evaluation

  • There is a high-functioning presentation where ADHD may be missed

How It Fits Into a Comprehensive ADHD Evaluation

At Verve Psychiatry, computerized testing is never used alone. It is combined with:

A detailed clinical interview

Standardized rating scales

Medical and psychological history

Collateral information (when helpful)

This ensures a thoughtful, accurate diagnosis—not a quick or oversimplified one.
